Mission Statement
The CPGA is committed to improve and promote the game of golf by providing the golfing public and the CPGA approved facilities with the highest quality administrators, teachers, players and promoters of the game, through superior training, education, and member development.
To become a full fledged member of the Canadian PGA, a professional must complete the Enhanced Learning and Innovative Training and Education program (ELITE). This program requires the completion of five steps, one of which is to complete a degree or diploma in business. They must also complete four levels of the Canadian PGA Teaching Certification Program. Other requirements include completion of a Playing Ability Test, completion of a minimum of 36 hours of seminars from a predetermined course guide, plus club fitting, club repair and rules of golf, and successful completion of the Class A Examination.
To register as an apprentice in the ELITE program an individual must be 18 years of age, have a minimum of grade 12 education or equivalent and must be employed by a CPGA Class A member. The CPGA member then registers the individual with the Zone Office by June 1 of each year.
The CPGA also endorses a number of golf management programs. These programs are offered by Canadian Community Colleges and result in a three year business diploma. Colleges offering the Golf Management Program include Camosun College in Victoria, B.C., Lethbridge Community College in Lethbridge, Alberta, Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton, Alberta, Humber College in Etobicoke, Ontario and Georgian College in Orillia, Ontario.
Building on a long tradition of service, the Canadian PGA is committed to improve and promote the game of golf by providing the golfing public and
